Our Story
I was born and raised here in Olympic Valley CA. When I was young, my parents took me sailing through Central America for three plus years. So growing up, I had a deep love of my home in the mountains, and also a love for the sea. And with that, a love for fishing and seafood.
Through all these years, I have been able to fish from Alaska to South America. Catching almost every species you can think of. Halibut and Ling Cod in Homer AK, Dorado and Roosterfish in Mexico, Yellowfin Tuna in Costa Rica, Sailfish in Panama, and so much more. This time fishing has given me an appreciation for having access to the freshest possible seafood.
My reason for starting Black Diamond Fishing is to give the community that raised me access to the quality of seafood that I have grown up loving. Fish is my favorite food by a long shot and it has always killed me that Tahoe is so close to the ocean but just far enough that our options for seafood are nothing but frozen, imported, farm raised fish.
Along with the quality of fresh caught fish, a huge reason for me to start Black Diamond Fishing was to fish ethically. I fish exclusively rod and reel. No dragging, no long lining, no gill netting. Fishing rod and reel makes it so I can have little to no bi-catch, and the fish that are kept are put under way less stress. This again circles back to a higher quality fillet at the end of the day. Fish that are kept are killed and bled instantly upon being put on the boat. This means that the muscles don’t have a chance to tense up and make the meat firm, and no blood is able to seep into the meat making for a that nice clean taste.
